Interlocking Concrete Blocks are a variation on the traditional concrete block, and can be argued are the most efficient kind of concrete block. These special pre-cast blocks do not require mortar in order to create a long-lasting and effective connection, and are available in multiple sizes.

Interlocking Concrete Blocks connect to each other via studs and recesses at the top and bottom of the blocks, respectively. Individually, concrete blocks are heavy, but once they are joined, they provide an excellent counterweight against exceedingly heavy applications like a retaining wall.

Considering the fact they do not require mortar to connect, it is safe to say you will be saving money that would otherwise be spent on binding materials, and even some labour costs.

Can I use mortar on Interlocking Concrete Blocks?

Using mortar on Interlocking concrete blocks is not required whatsoever, as they already bind via its studs and recesses. If you choose to go ahead and still apply mortar, it will definitely increase the strength of its attachment, but there will be consequences such as:

  • Additional costs for the binding materials.
  • Further labour costs to apply the binding materials to the interlocking concrete blocks.
  • No ability to remove the blocks if needed, meaning they would need to be destroyed in order to separate them, which in turn is a massive waste of money.

What is the weight and height of Interlocking Concrete Blocks?

The heaviness of the blocks, in conjunction with the interlocking feature, provides a secure level of structural integrity that is extremely difficult to topple or alter in any way once the structure has been set.

Regarding the weight of our blocks, they individually weigh 1560KG depending on the size of block you opt for. In conjunction with this, the interlocking and stacking features of our blocks provide an extremely secure structure.

Our interlocking concrete blocks have the potential to have 5 blocks stacked upon each other. Our standard-sized blocks are 60 cm in height, with 5 stacked together this would equate to 300 cm, which is exactly 9 feet (2.74 m) & 10.11 inches (ca. 26 cm) high.

However, there are size variations available, naturally, this will alter the aforementioned heights and weights.
